Tour de Pocé
Loire | France
The superb 15th century Château de Pocé is set in
magnificent grounds in the commune of Pocé-sur-Cisse, on the north
bank of the Loire. This is where Anne Chainier cultivates her 35
hectares of vines, producing red, white and rosé wines (Touraine and
Touraine Amboise A.O.C.s). The vineyard, stretching out
uninterruptedly and facing due south, grows in the so-called
“Perruches” soil (flint clay). The main grape varieties are
Sauvignon Blanc for white wine and Côt Cabernet Franc for red. It is
cultivated according to the principles of sustainable agriculture.
The Tour de Poce represents a great value in Sauvignon Blanc from
the Loire. The grapes come from the Poce vineyards as well as the
surrounding areas creating a complex yet affordable introduction
into the great whites of the Loire valley.
