Podere Il Caio
Umbria | Italy
Il Caio is the name for the hunting lodge and the
restaurant on the property of Castello di Corbara owned by a Roman
family named Patrizi. The restaurant is situated on the highest
point of the property and is quite busy serving typical Umbrian
cuisine, made from high quality local ingredients. The Il Caio wines
are made from only the Estate vineyards, and are made for the
restaurant and the bed and breakfast customers who stay at the
Estate. The wines are currently sold only in the United States and
at the Estate, and are quite literally the “house wines” of the
Estate. They are made by Franco Bernabei, a noted enologist and
perhaps one of the top three winemakers in all of Italy, and his son
Marco.
