The Rias-Baixas in southwestern Galicia became a
D.O. in 1992, thanks to the pioneering efforts of MariSol Bueno, who
had tirelessly promoted this wine region for many years prior to the
granting of the appellation. Through her work, the Rias-Baixas
region has gained international fame for producing a wonderful and
intruiging white wine from the indigenous Albarino grape varietal.
Pazo de Señorans, owned by Señora Bueno, is one of the smaller
estates in Salnes, which is one of the three and most northern
sub-zones in the Rias-Baixas. Here, near the Umia River, the
landscape is made up of softer hills with a predominantly
sediment-alluvial soil base.
