Mustiguillo
Utiel-Requena, Valencia | Spain
Lost in the backwoods of Southeastern Spain, the
region of Utiel-Requena lies some 100 kilometers west of Valencia on
a very high plateau. Two historic wine towns, Requena and Utiel,
form the base of the region, with both having a long history of bulk
wine production. Most of the region’s wine output is based around
the Bobal varietal which is very high producing and is usually
over-cropped. Other varietals planted there include Tempranillo,
Cabernet Sauvignon, and small amounts of other varietals.
