Located in a context of extreme beauty, within
the Brindisi plain, heart of the Apulia, the Lomazzi & Sarli company
is extended on fields of alluvial origin, devoted for ages to the
viticulture. Carrying out the undertaking started by the Lomazzi &
Sarli founders, Francesco Dimastrodonato has developed it, by
incrementing the cultivation of “autochthon” grapes and moved
himself in the first steps towards the realization of wines able to
satisfy the tastes of the age’s consumers. Today, the Dimastrodonato
family dedicates its work to his memory and intuitions, carrying out
its performance with commitment and passion in the respect of the
territory and the tradition whose roots come from the far 1869.The
Greeks were to give boost to the Apulia winegrowing, as witnessed by
the large number of archaeological finds, with clear oenological
references, discovered almost everywhere in the territory. Since the
8th and the 7th century B.C., in a period of great splendor of the
Greek civilization, wine held a prominent position in all the
important events of the age. Although in the third century B.C. the
Magna Grecia went through a difficult decline period due to the Rome
occupation, the Apulia wines did not know the decay, in fact the
Brundisium was acknowledged as a high level wine. The cultivation of
the most important Salento vine, the Negroamaro, started in this
century. The origins of its composed name actually rise from the
combination of two words mauros and niger (the first is a Greek
word, the second a Latin one), which indicate in two different
languages a black fruit vine of a bitter taste.
