Lavradores de Feitoria, imported by Eric Solomon,
is one of the most exciting new projects in the Douro. It’s a
partnership of 15 young Portuguese winemakers (“Lavradores” means
growers) who, under the direction of Dirk Niepoort, have decided to
work together to bottle their own wines instead of selling off their
grapes to a local co-op. The project was named as one of 20 "Best
New Wineries" by Food & Wine Magazine in their October, 2005 Wine
Issue.
