DiStefano Wines were first
introduced in the fall of 1993 and now, for more than 15 years, has
quietly been producing superb wines in Woodinville, Washington.
DiStefano has traditionally focused on Bordeaux varieties, including
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc.
These days, owner Mark Newton and winemaker Hillary Sjolund are also
producing luscious wines from Rhone varieties, including Viognier,
Syrah and Grenache. The winery does not own its own vineyards, but
relies on long term relationships and contracts with existing well
known vineyards. All of the red wines are produced using the gravity
flow approach into wooden basket presses, then pressed into holding
barrels. The DiStefano wines are a gift to Mark’s wife, Donna, and
offered in tribute to her family - a family combining great personal
and business integrity with a strong sense of tradition. It is in
keeping with this family tradition that the wines are dedicated not
only to those who enjoy them, but also to those who create them . .
. the growers in the field, the cellar workers and the Winery's
support staff.
