The appellation, created in 1982, was developed
after most of the Armagnac vineyards were converted into table wine
vineyards. With its oceanic climate tempered by the Landes forests
to the west, the Pyrenees to the south and just the right mix of
sunshine, rain and coolness the Gers provides ideal conditions to
get the best from its vineyards.
